Qualifications

UNDER-GRADUATE PROGRAMMES:

Under-graduate programmes that are offered in the School of Human Resource Sciences, include the following:

BCom Industrial Psychology and labour relations management
BCom Human resource management

The purpose of the programmes is to equip the student to investigate and handle human resource, business management, economical, labour relations, industrial psychological as well as psychological phenomena within the work context in order to ensure individual, group and business efficiency. 

The Industrial psychology, Labour relations management and Human resource management degrees have been evaluated and recognised by the external professional boards, namely the Professional Board for Psychology (of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)) and the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP).  After completion of their studies and the required practical experience, students can register at the SABPP as an HR practitioner. 

After completion of the honours degree in Industrial psychology, students can already apply themselves to write the psychometrist examination at the Health Prosessions Council of south Africa.  The required numbers of practical hours needed for admission to the examination are completed during the study period.  With the necessary practical experience, the student can, after receiving the honours degree in any fo the two degrees, , register as chartered practitioner at the South African Board for People Practices.

A master's degree in Industrial psychology can lead to registration as industrial psychologist at the health Professions Council of South Africa, after completion of a one-year internship, as well as passing the external examination.
 

Doctoral degrees (PhD):

A PhD degree in any of the Industrial psychology of Labour relations management fields is aimed at broadening the expertise in research in these fields.
