Serenaders are Regional winners

This year the Serenaders of the Puk Campus of the North-West University won the North-West Region Competition and will participate in the National Choir Festival in Pretoria in December.
  This is the second consecutive year that Serenaders reaches the final of the Old Mutual National Choir Festival.

The Serenaders of the NWU Puk consists of present students and alumni. They will be participating in the Old Mutual Choir Festival in Pretoria on 11 and 12 December.

The choir master of the Serenaders, Mr. Katlego Maphakela, and the chairperson, Comfort Leshomo.

  The chairperson of the Serenaders, Comfort Leshomo, says eleven choirs participated in Mafikeng this year in the regional competition where they had to sing two songs, a Western song and an Africa song. The Serenaders won the section for standard choirs.
  Leshomo says Serenaders was founded in 1994 and he has been involved with the choir since 2006. This year is his second term as chairperson. He says they did not fare well during the national festival last year (they came ninth), but he believes thy will do better since the choir members are also more experienced. The choir consists of present students and alumni.
  The choir master is Mr. Katlego Maphakela, who has also been involved with the Serenaders for two years.
