The student council for 2011 are:  (Back) Alden van Wyk, Elmé van der Merwe, Sinki Mlambo, Vera-Ann Argyle, Chrisna Kraaij, André Nel and Danél Benadé. (Middle) Neill Brybrooke, Jean-Marc Stidworthy, Jaycee van Rooyen, Kobus Lourens and Reghard Smith. (Front) Barbara-Mari Swarts, Madeleine White and Nanickyt Slangwani.

Jaycee van Rooyen has just been elected new chairperson of the student council on the NWU’s Potchefstroom Campus.
Jaycee says to him it is an unbelievable privilege, but at the same time he is also childishly excited about the term lying ahead. “I have many plans I would like to implement, but prefer to say nothing about it yet.”
Jaycee was born in Springs and an alumnus of the Hugenote High School. Last year he was the SC member responsible for finances and is busy doing his master’s degree studies in pharmacy. He has obtained several distinctions during his studies and is a resident of Veritas men’s hostel where he also served in his house committee.
He says during his term as chairperson he will attempt to make students fully aware of the SC affairs and live their vision, Studentity guaranteed, to the full.

• The chairperson was announced more than a week later than the rest of the SC members after Mark-John Burke appealed to also be allowed to stand as chairperson.
