The congress was presented by the Universidade Technica de Lisboa and was attended by congressees from across the world. ISAK currently boasts with members from more than 55 countries world wide.
The week was characterised by several ISAK activities and De Ridder had to thoroughly fill his position as president of the organisation. Apart from the fact that he was the chairperson of the international organising committee, he was also one of the editors of the book of abstracts for the congress.  He also took care of the opening of the congress together with the president of the Technical University of Lisbon. De Ridder also made a presentation on one of his favourite subjects, child obesity and the prevention thereof, and acted as session chairperson at two occasions.
ISAK also held its board meeting and the bi-annual general member meeting where De Ridder acted as chairperson.
De Ridder says an enormous task that was completed during the busy week, was the revision of the official ISAK manual.  Prof. Arthur Stewart of Britain is the senior author of the manual which is currently being used world wide and has already been translated into seven other languages. The remaining authors are Profs. Hans de Ridder from South Africa, Mike Marfell-Jones from New-Zealand and Tim Olds from Australia. The book was first published in 2001 and the revised 2011 edition (ten years later) will be the fourth time for the book to be revised and updated.
The book will be available for sale early next year as both a hard copy and an electronic copy in book shops and on the internet world wide.
