According to the Centre for BMIs, Ms Janette Larney, several projects benefited from this year’s SAS Conference. “Conference attendees received hand-made bags, manufactured by women of the Helping Hands project. This project was launched a few years ago to empower the wives of farm workers and, in so doing, to not only make a contribution to their families’ finances, but to also build their sense of human dignity,” says Larney.
Well-known international speakers, among whom was a Nobel Prize Winner, were in action here. Speakers who formed part of the conference were, amongst others, from Australia, Germany, America, Spain and Norway, and made a gigantic contribution to this year’s success.
Food left over after the conference was distributed to several quarters by the Student Rag Community Services. Naturally many bottles of water and a large amount of stationery were used, after which attendees were requested to place this material in recycle bind.
After the Conference some of this material will be recycled, and some will be distributed to less fortunate schools.
