FACULTY OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Centre for Teacher Development
School Director’s welcome
Dear practicing teachers
Welcome to the Centre for Teacher Development's (CTD) web page. We work closely with the North West Department of Education to assist teachers with the ever-changing demands of classroom practices. Through our programmes, your learners will have the advantage of 21st century skills, which will help them find their place in our highly competitive and rapidly changing globalised community.
The CTD provides opportunities for lifelong learning to practicing teachers. These will help you along the way to reaching your full potential. In order to accommodate teachers' needs, we offer full-time qualifications where teachers can attend evening classes, or part-time programmes with sessions on Saturdays and during holidays.
The language of instruction is English, while Setswana is widely spoken on campus. The School also attracts teachers from neighbouring SADC countries. Since our programmes are highly interactive, you will often work in groups. Be prepared to be a team player and to use technology for the sake of team interaction.
Once again, welcome to North-West University's Mafikeng Campus! I hope you'll enjoy your stay. If you're a prospective candidate, please join us - you'll find the campus warm and welcoming.
