Celli Family

The Celli Family from Germany visited Potchefstroom for the first time in September 2009 and entertained music lovers with a unique programme and lush string sound that is not heard often, at least not in South Africa. The group returns to the School of Music for a concert on Tuesday 20 March at 19:30 in the Conservatory Hall. But this isn't a repeat of their previous performance. The ensemble will now include four South African cellists, as well as a soprano, Natasja Dokalou, under direction of Prof Hans Eric Deckert.

Ms Dokalou will feature in the stunning "Bachianas Brasileiras Nr 5" by Spanish composer, Heitor Villa-Lobos. The rest of the programme ranges from a 16th century canzona through Wagner and Rachmaninov to some contemporary music, including a work by the popular tango composer, Astor Piazzolla.

Tickets are available at the Conservatory, PUK-Arts in the Heimat Building (F9) on the university campus, Protea Book Shop on the Bult, Print Café in the MooiRivier Mall, online at www.artema.co.za and www.facebook.com/NWU.Music, or 30 minutes before the concert at the box office.

Dinsdag 20 Maart 2012 • Konservatoriumsaal • 19:30

Celli Family

Hans Eric Deckert.

Me.
