"Concerto Festivo" with Harmonic Brass Munich
Tuesday 13 March 2012 • Conservatory Hall • 19:30

Harmonic Brass Munich

It has been quite a number of years (even decades) since a brass quintet was last featured in a concert at the Conservatory. This makes the performance by the Harmonic Brass Munich brass quintet on Tuesday 13 March at 19:30 in the Conservatory Hall all the more special.

This brass quintet hails from Germany and has been performing worldwide since 1991, playing up to 120 concerts a year. They have also been ambassadors for the Goethe Institute since 2000, and regularly conduct international workshops and master classes. Critics have called them "one of the best of its kind worldwide", and the music critic for "Die Burger" wrote of their concert in the Cape two years ago: "To say this is one of the very best concerts I have ever experienced, is a gross understatement ... Highlight after highlight."

Their programme, entitled "Concerto Festivo", includes a broad range of repertoire, from Bach and Vivaldi to Verdi and Andrew Lloyd Webber, expertly arranged by the trumpeter, Hans Zellner. Their virtuosity shines in exciting and demanding pieces such as Ravel's "Bolero" and the "Sabre Dance" by Khatchaturian.

Tickets are available at the Conservatory, PUK-Arts in the Heimat Building (F9) on the university campus, Protea Book Shop on the Bult, Print Café in the MooiRivier Mall, online at www.artema.co.za, or 30 minutes before the concert at the box office.

"Concerto Festivo" met Harmonic Brass Munich
Dinsdag 13 Maart 2012 • Konservatoriumsaal • 19:30

Harmonic Brass Munich
