Serenaders to national competition

Potchefstroom - The Serenaders choir of the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University will be participating in the Old Mutual National Choir Festival in December.

This choir has just kicked dust in the eyes of other participants during the provincial competition. Eight choirs participated at provincial level in North West.

The chairperson of the Serenaders Comfort Leshomo says it is the sixth year that the group participates in the competition. Since 2007 they have progressed from third to winning position.The Serenaders competed in the category for standard choirs and had to sing a Western song and an African song during the singing competition.

The choir of the Mafikeng Campus reached third place in the category for large choirs. The Serenaders will participate in the national competition in Pretoria on 11 and 12 December.
