School of Biokinetics, Recreation and Sport Science:

Physical ability assessment for workers: This project entails the advancement of workers and the identification of safety systems.

Institute for Kinderkinetics: Service rendering involves movement development programmes, movement therapy for children with special needs, and health enhancing physical activity programmes for children.

Institute for Biokinetics: Biokinetics therapy is given for various indicated conditions and general fitness.

Institute for Sport Science and Development: Sport Science support services are rendered to different levels of the sporting continuum and talent identification is done for elite high performance.

High Performance Institute for Sport: Activities include the training of high-performance participants in athletics and other sports disciplines, focusing on both international and local athletes.

Programme for Recreation and Adventure: Services rendered include the provision of recreation and adventure programmes to identify and develop leadership skills and experiential learning in communities.

School of Pharmacy

Pharmaceutical Solutions: This involves pharmaco-economics, pharmaco-epidemiology, and pharmaco-vigilance.

 

Pheroid Pilot Plant: Managed as a small production unit, this plant focuses on the manufacturing of pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical products, based on Pheroid technology

School of Physiology, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences

Consultation:  In the subject group Physiology the occupational hygienists are acting as consultants and approved inspection authorities for the general and mining industry, while staff members in the subject group Nutrition conduct contract research and render consultation services to NGO’s and the industry.

School of Psychosocial Behavioural Sciences

Developmental initiatives with elderly people are undertaken as part of the gerontology project.

Professional psychological services are also rendered to parent-child dyads, and students, adults and couples who request assistance in the IPC. Multicultural staff includes psychologists, intern psychologists, M1-students, a speech therapist and a psychiatrist. Evaluations range from psychological, neuropsychological and audiological evaluations. Interventions comprise individual, group, couple and family therapy.

Consultation services are rendered to various institutions, including NGO’s, Medi Clinic Hospitals and Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE).

School of Nursing Science

Consultation:  The nurse academics are acting on a continuous basis as consultants for the health care industry, nursing services and Life Line.

Service rendering:  Quality Improvement Intervention Programme (QIIP): This is a programme that will improve intrapartum care and decrease maternal mortality rate and has an expected turnover of R0,2m.
