The Potchefstroom campus of North-West University (NWU) is known for its vibrant student life. In this student community there is a great variety of student organisations or associations, each with a unique identity.

The main purpose of the Association Council is to coordinate the various student organisations  in such a way that associations affiliated under Association Council make a significant contribution to  a organised student life.

Association Board is responsible for the coordination of organisations in four categories namely social / social, cultural (non-executive culture), political and religious associations.

It is primarily Association Council puspose to act as a link to between the affiliated societies and the Student Representative Council (SRC).
