Campus boasts with new Golden Key Chapter

During a recent awards ceremony a number of academic achievers were welcomed into the fold of the prestigious Golden Key Association. Golden Key is an internationally recognised, non-profit organisation affiliated with over 390 universities throughout Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, the Bahamas and the United States. The Society’s mission is to enable members to realize their potential by connecting individual achievement with service and lifelong opportunity.

Golden Key is the world’s largest honour society and is a mission-focused, values-based and demographics-driven organization. With 34 years of rich tradition, Golden Key remains committed to scholarship, career development, leadership and community service. Golden Key South Africa started in 2000 (with the North-West University being one of the first institutions to subscribe) and touched the lives of more than 54,000 South Africans. Membership is by invitation only and is based purely on academic merit. Membership is limited to the top 15% of degree students, from all disciplines, which have completed at least one year of study.

The benefits of Golden Key membership go far beyond academic recognition. Member benefits range from scholarships awards, announcements of career opportunities such as jobs, internships and events, being recognized internationally, sharing international networks, development of leadership skills, community service and catching up with members at conferences, workshops and other events. Through Golden Key, members are empowered with tools to help them realize their potential and to grow on a personal and professional level. During the awards ceremony, recipients of the Golden Key awards were addressed by Ms Charlene Gunter, the Director of Golden Key South Africa as well as Me Hope Khoza, the South African Chapter Relations Officer.
