NWU signs international exchange agreement in Brazil

Potchefstroom - The Rector of the North-West University’s Potchefstroom Campus, Prof Herman van Schalkwyk, recently signed an exchange agreement with the Mackenzie Presbyterian University in Brazil.

This is part of the NWU’s internationalisation efforts and the establishment and strengthening of corporate ties with international universities.

According to a statement issued by this university in Sao Paulo, the agreement opens up various opportunities for the exchange of knowledge, research, students and lecturers between these two universities. There will also be new opportunities for master’s and doctoral studies abroad.

Prof Herman is excited about this agreement seeing as it's the first of its kind with a Brasilian university.

"In the past we focused mainly on agreements with universities in the US and Europe."
The Potchefstroom Campus and the Mackenzie Presbyterian University have a lot in common in terms of the establishment of the former PU for CHE and the Mackenzie Presbyterian University. It is an opportunity to draw on each other’s experiences and knowledge to enable us to play a more active role in the development of our respective countries."
