NWU looks at hydrogen as an alternative source of energy
The North-West University, in collaboration with the SCSR, has been designated as one of three Centres of Competence in the country doing research on hydrogen as a source of energy. In 2008, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) registered the trademark Hydrogen South Africa (HySA) to research and develop hydrogen as a safe source of energy. Read more

Puk Professor takes the lead against pollution substances, ozone

Four athletes of the NWU Pukke’s Dreamveldt Athletics Club have been included in the group of eleven to represent South Africa in the Commonwealth Games that commence in New Delhi on 6 October. For many the computer game, Minesweeper, is only a form of pastime, but to Bertie Seyffert, an MSc student at the NWU’s Potchefstroom Campus, it is a passion with which he has reached great heights. The NWU Puk Rugby Institute’s attempt to win the National Club Championships kicks off on Saturday afternoon (18 September) in Stellenbosch when last year’s runner-ups turn out against Middelburg. Van Rooyen’s inauguration addresses role of rennin in high blood pressure

Carstens elected chairperson for further term
The Director of the School of Languages has just been nominated chairperson of the Afrikaans Language Board (Afrikaanse Taalraad – ATR) for a further term. Four students of the School of Accounting Sciences and their mentor will soon be representing South Africa in the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Global Challenge in Malaysia. On Wednesday evening in Randfontein in the final of the Predator league, the NWU Pukke were bogged 26-17 against UJ. Wesley Robberts, UJ’s fly-half, punished the Puk with his accurate aim at the goalposts, although one should admit that he had an ally in the blower.
