Students excel in athletics and chess

Two students of NWU’s Mafikeng Campus, Mr Itumelang Mpa and Miss Omphile Rathulong, did the Campus proud with their recent sport achievements.   

Itumelang Mpa represented the Province at the Yellow Pages South African Youth, Junior and Schools National Track and Field Championships held in Germiston at the end of March. He was a member of the 4 x 400m team who won silver in the under 23 age category. Mpa also participated in the SA Senior Championships in Port Elizabeth in mid-April.

Omphile Rathulong has been selected for the University Sport South Africa (USSA) National Chess Team. The team will compete in national and international events, including FISU Universiades, FASU and the CUCSA Games later this year.
