The objectives of the Human Rights Policy are to:

promote the observance of human rights; |
|
• |
promote a culture of human rights; |
|
• |
promote respect for and protection of human rights; |
|
• |
develop an awareness of human rights among the university community and its external environment; |
|
• |
monitor and assess the compliance of human rights in the university community; |
|
• |
make recommendations to Council for the promotion of human rights within the framework of the law and the Constitution; |
|
• |
investigate any alleged violation of human rights within the university community; and |
|
• |
assist any person adversely affected thereby to secure redress, and to carry out non-academic educational programmes in the university community on human rights. |
