CENTRE FOR TEXT TECHNOLOGY (CTexT®)
Research

Research focus and expertise

On June 1, 2004 Centre for Text Technology (CTexT®) was established as a non-profit, self-supporting unit of the Research Unit: Languages and Literature in the South African Context in the Faculty of Arts at the North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus).

CTexT® is the instrument whereby the Research Unit established itself as a strategically important leader in the field of Human Language Technology (HLT) in South Africa. This research and development centre combines research experts and the essential technical and administrative support in order to conduct cutting-edge research in text technology, and use that as the basis for the development of innovative and relevant technological applications. The Centre also ensures long-term sustainability for research and development activities, which is quintessential for the establishment of valuable partnerships with industrial and business partners.
