BUSA Deputy CEO appointed at Potchefstroom Business School

Mr Raymond Parsons, Deputy CEO of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) has been appointed as a lecturer at the Potchefstroom Business School (PBS) in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences on the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University (NWU).

Prof Parsons is a prominent economist and a key contributor to public and academic debate on a broad spectrum of issues of importance to the political economy of South Africa. He is the author/editor of several books and publications on the SA economy; the most recent one being Zumanomics: which way to share prosperity in SA?

Prof Parsons studied economics at the Universities of Cape Town, Oxford and Copenhagen, before playing a leading role in organised business as well as in the National Economic Development Labour Council (NEDLAC) for many years.  

Prof Tommy du Plessis, the director of the PBS, indicated that Prof Parsons will make a significant contribution to faculty expertise and knowledge at the PBS. He has held several academic appointments at a number of universities in South Africa as well as an Honorary Doctorate from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. Professor Parsons will continue in a part-time consultancy role to BUSA.
