About us  

The Faculty of Human and Social Sciences is the result of the amalgamation of the School of Human Sciences and School of Social Sciences of the former University of Bophuthatswana (UNIBO). The faculty has gone through three major stages of change, first as part of UNIBO, then University of North West (UNW) and subsequently North -West University (NWU). Since 2007 student enrollment has stabilized. The figures vary from a high of 1592 students and a low of 1477.

The Faculty of HSS consists of three Schools namely Social Sciences, Human Sciences and Research and Postgraduate Studies. Each School is divided into sub schools offering various career-focused programmes. The executive management consists of the Executive Dean, four Directors and a Faculty Manager. The faculty is committed to quality teaching and learning, high rate of research outcomes and furthering community engagement as regards the application of expertise.
