Mr Eric Bukasa Ntumba : speaking up without fear or favour
Mr Eric Bukasa Ntumba, currently corporate manager at the Commercial Bank of the Congo, was at the forefront of negotiations when the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education merged with the University of the North West.
As a first-year student, he was elected as cultural officer on the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the Vaaldriehoek campus in 2002. He was chosen as SRC president the following year.
He has a BSc degree in Information Technology and a diploma and master’s degree in public administration from the prestigious French school of administration, ENA, where he also represented students on the administrative council.
Mr Ntumba has a well-earned reputation for speaking up without fear or favour, and for blazing new trails.
As a black student leader participating in the NWU merger talks, he was undaunted by the experience of negotiating on behalf of a predominantly white university.
Mr Ntumba received the university Council’s award for outstanding leadership and services rendered to the Vaal Triangle Campus community.
