Foreign delegation visited Science Centre

The Science Centre of North-West University’s Mafikeng campus recently hosted a delegation from the University of Galve in Sweden and the University of Botswana.

The two universities are collaborating with the purpose of establishing a science centre at the University of Botswana. The aim of the centre will be to provide science-related support to early childhood, primary and secondary schools in Botswana.

According to Ms Marea Tsamaase, Coordinator of the Child Development Programme at the University of Botswana, “Our aim is to learn from institutions with similar centres. We also want to make sure that such centre will be beneficial to our target groups.”

She added that their fact-finding mission presented an opportunity for networking with a university in a neighbouring country and that the Mafikeng Science Centre might serve as a benchmark for the Botswana project.

Mr Goran Nordstrom of the University of Galve said they intended working closely with NWU on the project.
